A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a structured digital record linked to a product, product model, batch, component or material. It organizes useful product information so people can access it during the product’s life.
Depending on the product, the record may include details such as its identity, materials, components, care instructions, repair options, spare parts or recycling guidance. Different users may need different information. A customer may look for care instructions, while a repairer may need details about compatible parts.
Treat a DPP as a controlled product information record. Its data should come from reliable business sources, stay accurate as the product changes, and be shared with the right people. A QR code or another data carrier can link a physical product to its passport. The code is the link; the DPP is the information behind it. A DPP does not follow one fixed template, so its contents depend on the product and its intended use.
