Source Code is the intellectual property the software provider delivers. They are also known as an application or programs.

Source code is the software provider's intellectual property—also known as an application or program. Source code is the set of instructions that a programmer writes to create a software program. It can be read and edited by humans, but it must be converted into a machine-readable form before it can be run on a computer.  

Programs are written in a particular language which provides a structure for the programmer and uses specific instructions to control the sequence of operations that the computer carries out.  

The programming language used will depend on the type of software being created and the computing platform for which it is intended. Many different programming languages are available, each with its syntax and semantics. Some common programming languages include C++, Java, Python, PHP, JavaScript e.g.
